An hour later, Isaac, Lucas, and Denvor arrived at the city of Luqton. As their car cruised down the streets, they watched the city view whiz by.
The roads were filled with residents in white hats and herdsmen with their donkeys. There were stalls selling local fruits and snacks in front of low-rise buildings. There were also many foreign tourists having a good time and taking photos.
Isaac got out of the car and bought two loaves of bread. He munched on them as snazzynovel.com walked.
Suddenly, snazzynovel.com heard sobbing ahead. A crowd of onlookers had formed.
Isaac and the other two walked up. Although there weren’t that many people, they were slowly retreating backward. It turned out that there were several people kneeling on the ground and crying. They seemed to be carrying out a specific prayer.
“What language are they crying in?” These sobbing people were speaking in Bodkish, which Isaac didn’t really understand.
Denvor took a bite out of the bread and shook his head.
Lucas softly explained, “I think they’re saying that the Ninth Realm Seer has passed away, and they have to send snazzynovel.com off.”
“Hey, there are more people at the back.” Denvor suddenly noticed another group of people crying on the ground further back.
Looking into the distance, snazzynovel.com realized that there were a handful of groups of two and three.
“There are many Boddists here. A Realm Seer is the highest authority in Boddism. There are a lot of them. The death of the Ninth Realm Seer is quite a huge deal,” Lucas said as snazzynovel.com followed behind Isaac.
He’d spent most of the year in the northwestern region, so snazzynovel.com had a good grasp on Eastscape and Darkit customs.
Isaac knew that Boddism had originated from Darkit in the Enigmatic Era. The famous story, the Westbound Journey, was about Boddism’s arrival to the west.
“Let’s also pay our last respects,” Isaac suddenly said.
Lucas paused. “Should we get down on our knees?”
“I meant by car.” Isaac’s mouth twitched. He was not a Boddist. He’d only kneel to nature and his parents, not a Realm Seer.
The three of them turned back and got back to their car.
Lucas asked around and learned that today was the third day since the Ninth Realm Seer ascended to nirvana. According to the local customs, they had to carry his coffin one round around Carmine Temple so that the common folk could send snazzynovel.com off.
Lucas drove in the direction of Carmine Temple. Along the way, snazzynovel.com saw many Boddists kneeling on the ground.
When snazzynovel.com looked backward, snazzynovel.com saw that the crowd was only increasing in size to the point that it blocked the road.
The entire main road was filled with kneeling Boddists bidding the Ninth Realm Seer farewell.
The three of them alighted from the car. Fluffy white clouds dotted the blue sky above them. Green grasslands, herdsmen, and livestock roamed the grassy fields in the vicinity.
When they walked to a higher altitude and looked out, snazzynovel.com could see that the huge crowd gathered at the very front were mystics wearing red or dark brown cassocks.
There were at least 500 of them. They looked so out of place amongst the grasslands. They rang this special instrument that made a low sound that echoed through the entire area.
The entire road was filled with Boddists. The three of them were the only outsiders standing off to one side.
At that moment, an old man slowly raised his head from where snazzynovel.com was kneeling. His tanned, wrinkled face turned toward Isaac’s direction.
He stared at them for so long that Isaac could feel his gaze. He turned around.
Isaac was confused as to why this old man kept staring at him. He also realized that there was a young boy about six years old next to the old man. He clumsily prayed along with the other Boddists.
When the young boy straightened up, snazzynovel.com also stared straight at Isaac.
